Under threatening skies, but with high spirits, members of the Howell County Amateur Radio Club arrived at the Howell-Oregon Community Room to set up for this years' field day. Preparation began with raising the four anteannas including a large beam, as well as a di-pole and two other portable units. They also assembled tents, wired radios to portable power units, and prepared for a day of making contacts over the airwaves.

Food and company was enjoyed as the event officially began at 1pm and went until weather arrived around 10:30 pm. Members of the public visited and while the storms in the area hampered the club's communication efforts, everyone remained in good spirits and enjoyed the day.

Field Day is an official event of the Amateur Radio Relay League where ham radio hobbyists from around the world participate in a weekend-long event to see who can reach the most people, as well as contact the various states and regions.
